- Helps reunite lost dogs with their families:
A dog tag makes it easier to locate a dog’s owner.
- Cost effective:
In addition to an impounding fee, dog owners are charged daily boarding fees for each day their dog stays at the pound. If your dog is wearing a license tag, you will be contacted immediately and can prevent boarding fees from adding up.
- Helps fund valuable services:
Dog licensing fees are used to offset the costs of providing dog control services in our community.
- Encourages population control:
Reduced licensing fees encourage owners to spay/neuter their dogs.
In the North Okanagan, a license is required for every dog over the age of 6 months.
