While vinegar does not neutralize dog urine, it can be used to remove odors from dog urine. To remove the odor, mix cup of white vinegar with one gallon of water in a spray bottle. Mist the area where the dog urinated with the solution and let it sit for two to three minutes. Wipe up any excess liquid with a cloth. Repeat if necessary. If you notice that the urine stain is freshnot old or driedyou can use a mild acid such as vinegar or citrus juice to remove it. Pour some vinegar into a plastic bowl until it is half full. Place the stained area inside the bowl and gently rub it with your fingers until the stain dissolves. If you’re working in an area where anyone may walk in, cover the bowl with plastic wrap before starting. Once the stain has dissolved, rinse it thoroughly with clean water and blot dry using a cloth or paper towel.
